Compendium of Alaska Traditional and Subsistence Dietary Files

Using the DRG™ software, an excellent food consumption database for Alaska Native populations has been constructed from a diverse array of information about dietary habits, food availability, and economics of the populations for whom there are no detailed food consumption surveys. These dietary files and the basis upon which they were built are compiled in a comprehensive document entitled The Compendium of Alaska Traditional and Subsistence Dietary Files. They describe the diet enjoyed by Alaska Native populations more closely than standard US surveys. The goal of building these files is to consider traditional and subsistence diets when making decisions that affect the health of the tribal communities and their environment.
